Job Summary:

The Payroll Manager is responsible for the success of the Payroll function at POOLCORP. This critical area of the business is responsible for overseeing the activities involved with processing payroll for over 4,000 employees in the company located throughout the US and Canada. As the Manager of the Payroll group, this individual will also be responsible for driving continuous improvement in processes and technology, managing vendor relationships, and coaching and developing the team. 


Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the processing of Payroll on a bi-weekly basis of four separate companies including over 4,000 employees with a gross payroll over $225M annually.  Properly process and tax special incentives and bonus programs with a gross amount of $18 - $26M annually. 
  • Oversee the processing of 300+ garnishments.
  • Maintain compliance in taxes and labor laws for Federal, 39 US State, 5 Canadian Provinces, and about 10 states with multiple locals by city or county.
  • Oversee the preparation for processing payroll including communication to all employees via ESS-Employee Self Service, and Email.  Verify audits have been performed and checked.
  • Verify all changes have been administered for the HR Department including timecard approvals, timecard adjustments, processing of LOAs and terminations.
  • Verify all pending PTO requests and missing punches are being resolved prior to timecard approvals.
  • Prepare all Imports to be processed on Payroll Monday including benefit deductions, bonus draws, commissions, MIT bonuses, etc. 
  • Prepare all paperwork to be keyed into the Grid on Payroll Monday including LOAs, terms, retro pay, adjustments, deductions, stipends, etc.
  • Run Audits after the payroll has been processed to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Review and approve all money network and manual checks issued. 
  • Review and approve all Journal Entries and Reconciliations.
  • Coach and develop and the Payroll team to foster highly skilled, engaged workforce.
  • Research, suggest, and implement continuous improvement ideas to drive efficiencies in the department.

Requirements:

  • Bachelors in Human Resources, Business or relevant field.
  • 7+ years of payroll experience.
  • Expertise with Payroll Systems, ADP and/or Netchex preferred
  • Proficiency with payroll concepts, practices and procedures.
  • Track record of success in creating & sustaining a team focused on customer service.
  • Ability to manage projects, timelines and deliverables.
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to handle details when needed.
  • Evidence of self-initiative, personal accountability, and follow through.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with agility to juggle competing tasks and demands.
  • High level of discretion with confidential material.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
